Students using democracy to name the class turtle

Since 2013, my Climax Springs school district art class has had a three toed box turtle as the class pet.  Our turtle has been nameless all this time.  With the presidential election coming up, all elementary classes have nominated name suggestions for the turtle, held primary elections within the classrooms to select their class name and are working on posters for the general election where middle and high school students will vote and select the turtle name from a ballot of every elementary class turtle name.  Who says art is just foo foo glitter and paint?  Our art classes are serious business!
