Elementary Art Cubs visit Sedalia and the Daum Museum at SFCC

At the end of last year, the newly formed (as of this school year 2016-17) Climax Springs Elementary Art Club (the Art Cubs) visited State Fair Community College's Daum Museum.  We participated in a VTS (visual thinking strategies) program where students were encouraged to investigate artworks and discover information about the art they are viewing.  Students examined the work and noted specific elements of the work and shared those findings with the class where those findings were discussed in a conversation of discovery.

An awesome group of art club students, taking our first field trip as the Climax Springs Elementary Art Cubs.

Students engaged in learning and sharing about what they see in the artworks.

Viewing a suspended glass sculpture by artist Dale Chihuly.  The Violet Chandelier is made up of many individual piece of blown glass, all tied together, attached to an armature.  The individual parts make the whole.

Sharing discoveries with the group about what they se in the artwork on the wall.

Sharing out about a different work of art.  Ms. Weaver, Daum Director of Educational Programs directs our investigation.
