1st grade studies art and sports

The 1st grade classes explored art in sports.  We examined sports cards like baseball, basketball and football and studied how artistic cards began to be seen in newer editions of cards.  We examined paintings of sports icons such as Michael Jordan, LeBron James, George Brett, Mark McGwire, and Peyton Manning.  First grade students then selected a piece of sports equipment to study and then created artworks using that piece of equipment as their source of inspiration.
