Pre School students were given an opportunity to explore color mixing and learn about the color wheel........but not with paint. Instead, with frosting and food coloring.
Students were shown how mixing primary colors together created secondary colors. Students were super excited as they first watched a drop of food color get added to vanilla frosting and see it turn into colored frosting. Students were then excited to see two colors get mixed into a brand new color. If that wasn't exciting enough, students were super excited to get to add a drop of food coloring to their vanilla frosting and mix colors themselves. To most of the students, it was like magic.
Probably the most rewarding part about the lesson, was at the end, their frosting colors were spread onto mini vanilla wafers and were eaten. Art can not only be awesome to make and look at....today it was also tasty!
