Climax Springs high school students design Vans shoes

For the 6th year Vans Shoes has sponsored a nationwide competition known as the Custom Culture Contest where selected schools are sent 4 pairs of white canvas shoes for students to design.  There are 4 categories and students need to represent that specific category in the design of their specific style of shoe.
High school students were grouped into teams of 3 or 4 students per team and were given paper templates to begin their brainstorming.  Students bantered around ideas and finally settled on an overall design of what their pair of shoes should look like.  Students then took the next 4 weeks creating their pair of shoes.  Students had until April 7th to finish their designs.  Once finished, I, along with the help of a couple of students, set up and photographed the shoes and submitted them to Vans for judging.  We are now anxiously waiting to see if our designs will be chosen to move on in the next round of the contest.  Regardless of this, I am super proud of my students and the work each of them put into the creation of the finished products.
